MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The family of slain celebrity chef Antaun Teasley made an emotional plea Tuesday at the Miami Beach Police Department for the public’s help to find his killer.

“When a mother loses a son there is nothing compares,” said Teasley’s mother Janice Edwards. “He didn’t die in his sleep, he was violently taken from us.”

Teasley was a chef for Miami Heat players Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole.

He was shot at the popular South Beach nightclub Mansion a week ago.

Police say Teasley was in the VIP section when a group he was with got into an altercation with another group of people–then someone opened fire.

“Can you say something and not be a coward,” said his sister Robin Teasley.

“We are looking for more witnesses and cell phone video,” said Sergeant Bobby Hernandez.

If you have any information on this case, contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305)471-TIPS (8477).

There’s a reward of up to $3,000 in this case.
